The V13 is the world’s most powerful electric unicycle. The V13 can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h (56 mph) thanks to a 3024 Wh battery pack that powers a monstrous 4500 W motor with a 22″ tire via a cutting-edge, extra-powerful controller! And the enjoyment does not end there. It has a removable dual-adjustment suspension system (air suspension and damper) for a safe and comfortable ride, dual grab handles for lifting all 110 lbs of pure power, and all the convenience features we’ve come to appreciate from wheels like the V12, including a screen, a trolley handle, a powerful headlight and taillight, and more. Check out the InMotion V13 announcement video for more information!
Design by EUC
The Challenger is a large suspension wheel that is built like a tank and is incredibly sturdy and durable. It is exceptionally stable and comfortable at high speeds. The wheel is only 22 inches wide, which means it is still maneuverable.
For Challenger, we implemented our easy-to-use family trolley handle design. You can quickly view important information and adjust the settings from the screen thanks to the highly praised touchscreen display, which is the same as the V12 series.
Not only does the rolling cage protect the wheel from damage, but it also works as a lift handle should you need to move it to your trunk or up a few flights of stairs. At night, the 18W headlight and 1W taillight make the wheel particularly noticeable. It has two charging connections that can accommodate up to 1764W (126V/14A), which means the battery can be fully charged in around 2.5 hours. Your phone or tablet may easily be charged thanks to the availability of one Type-C port and one USB port. A large and expansive mudguard is provided, so you no longer have to worry about puddles.
Power pads are free accessories available to everyone, and all that is required to use them is to adhere them wherever they fit best. We added four protective armor made of stainless steel to prevent potential harm to the corners of the outer shells. Thus, the exterior casings and internal battery packs are shielded from accidental impact or puncture. Challenger is equipped with enormously large and broad spiked pedals, the height and angle of which may be adjusted.
Design Mould
Challenger is built on a modular design philosophy, which makes maintenance easy. The inner frame is the fundamental construction of the wheel; everything else is readily added on.
We are aware that tire replacement is the most common do-it-yourself task, but with the Challenger, you don’t need to disassemble the wheel to do so; simply remove the motor and begin replacing the tire; the entire operation can be completed in about 30 minutes.
The trolley handle, rolling cage, front and rear lights, and battery packs could all be removed from the exterior with a few hookups. Raptor is the first EUC controller of its kind that features independently sealed shells and integrated interfaces. Installing and demounting the controller package is quite easy.
The entire assembly time cost of Challenger has been reduced by 60% compared to INMOTION V12, which is a big relief for everyone. Therefore, bid farewell to the chaos of breakdown and enjoy the modifications in your own garage.
Our first goal is always safety. In order to make every trip enjoyable and safe, we have put in a lot of effort and improved the motor, battery, and controller.
Motor
As the most powerful motor ever made for the EUC, Challenger’s motor is 126V, equipped with a 22″ off-road tire, 282mm diameter stator, and 38H magnetic steel, allowing it to attain a lift speed of 140km/h, rated power of 4500W, peak power of 10,000W, and max torque of 300NM. It is safe to state that the challenger will easily overcome any slopes and go at any speed with a promising margin of safety.
To provide sufficient input current to the motor, we employ 8AWG phase-conductor cables, which are double the size of their counterparts and can withstand 160A of continuous current and 1000A of peak current. The heat will be reduced by 75%, which means that riders can engage in more aggressive riding without damaging the wiring.
As with its predecessors, this motor is hollow, well-sealed, and IPX6 waterproof. Just enjoy the enjoyment of riding without worrying about water or dirt infiltration. With its reinforced rim design, it can withstand vertical impacts of up to 2700kg, which is twice as much as V12HT.
To give an additional safety guarantee, redundant hall sensor systems were implemented. Now that the motor is accurately controlled, the riding experience will be considerably more comfortable. In case one of them fails while riding, the other can assume responsibility to make sure there is no cutaway.
Battery
The Challenger’s battery is 126v and 3024wh. The packs are IP67 waterproof and offer fast charging up to 1764W (126V/14A), which means you can fully charge the battery in around 2.5 hours. Next, I’d like to elaborate on the intelligent BMS and our safety strategies.
One of the most significant enhancements for Challenger is Smart BMS, which allows you to check the health of each parallel cell, which is also constantly checked by the motherboard. The aging process of the battery can be slowed down, and the battery’s lifespan can be increased by 100% thanks to the cell-balancing technology that has been adopted. Now that a separate voltmeter has been implemented in the BMS, with a 3% deviation, you have a much more accurate picture of how much battery power remains in your wheel. Independent battery logs are crucial for failure analysis, so the INMOTION team can now delve into each failure case, devise a remedy, and then update the BMS firmware for every rider over the air in order to prevent any dangers.
To ensure that the battery cells are firmly attached, we created sturdy inner brackets to retain them. Battery safety is always our top design priority. In order to strengthen the construction and make it water resistant, the entire pack is soaked in sealant. In addition, heat is effectively dispersed, allowing it to withstand significantly longer periods of heavy use without overheating. To prevent damage to the shell’s corners, we have added four stainless steel protecting shields to the Challenger battery.
The Challenger battery boasts the most extensive safety measures on the EUC market, with 11×2 temperature sensors and 12 types of protection systems. To prevent probable failures during charging, we’ve developed the BMS with redundant protective mechanisms; if one fails, the other can still function independently. In addition, there is a third tier of safety outside of the battery packs, so that even if all the battery BMS protective functions fail, a gatekeeper will prevent potential fires.
The two battery packs communicate with each other and the motherboard simultaneously using our exclusive TCS (Triangle Communication System) technology. In the event that a single channel fails, the motherboard is still able to monitor the battery status from the remaining channels.
Controller
The controller is both the brain and the heart of an electric unicycle. In our case, it analyzes the real-time status of the wheel via sensors, regulates battery current, activates the motor, monitors performance, and takes preventative measures when risks are anticipated.
Our first modular concept design is the Raptor controller, which aims to provide a large safety margin, compact and clean wiring management, IPX5 waterproofing, independent packaging, and easy maintenance. The Raptor controller consists primarily of three levels. This consists of the exterior casing, the driver board, and the thermal conductive board.
The assembly is well-sealed without any internal or external jump wires, allowing it to be readily tested and transported. Easy-to-plug-in and-out motorcycle-grade waterproofing connectors are built into the PCBA.
We decided to employ 42 MOSFETs with a nominal voltage withstand of 200V to ensure the driver board always has sufficient safety margin under any extreme conditions. That’s 58% greater than the maximum voltage of the Challenger, allowing for roughly 1000A of continuous current. This means that the challenger may accelerate and decelerate rapidly without damaging the board. Six times as many capacitors as its predecessor was adopted. This generates significantly less heat, especially over uneven terrain, and the system is safer and more dependable in general. It also lessens the impact of stress and increases the battery pack’s longevity.
All MOSFETs are mounted directly on the 7.9-inch by 3.5-inch (200mm x 90mm) Thermal Conductive Board, which is cooled by two independent fans.
Raptor is made for this task since we strive for a seamless experience.
Suspension
Three years ago, we introduced the suspension wheel V11, one of the finest cruising wheels to date.
The suspension mechanism for the Challenger has been improved. Only the motor and sliders make up the Challenger’s unsprung mass, which has been reduced by 20% compared to previous generations. You may change the pressure and damper speed according to your weight and riding preferences thanks to the two sets of separate air shocks and dampers implemented on each side. I can assure you that you have never experienced such smooth riding anywhere else, and it is incredibly responsive to difficult terrain.
The Challenger may simply be converted to a non-suspension type by removing the suspension kits, as we are aware that some of you prefer non-suspension wheels. Therefore, by simply experimenting, you will sense the two distinct personalities of the same wheel.
